Having been a California 356 for several decades, the floor pans and battery box are very solid and well preserved. The interior was done by Autos International, Escondido, California.
During the restoration, this 356 was converted into a GT Outlaw look. The stock ratio gears were used, the bearings were replaced, 4 new synchros, new bearing cage, synchro anchor, upgrade ring gear bolts, reset ring and pinion, shift forks, and rails as well as a reseal.
Suspension: Koni shocks were installed with a front sway bar and the drum braking system including custom GT style air intake backing plates with reinforced control arms. The electrical system was also upgraded to a 12-volt system.
Since the restoration, this GT Coupe has won several awards having been driven to and shown at the North meets the South in Central California multiple times and was also shown at the Southern California Porsche 356 Club Concours in Dana Point.
This GT Coupe was kept by its restorer-owner until 2020 when it was purchased by Autosport Designs, Inc. for our personal collection, the thought being to use and enjoy it on the many tours-rallies that it is eligible for. March 2021, the GT Coupe was sold to a very good friend and client of ASD, a friend that had to have it. Knowing the 356 would be in excellent care and ASD would continue to be able to service and look after it. To date and in its most previous owner, this GT Coupe has been enjoyed for seasonable motoring in and around Long Islands Hamptons.
Most recently the GT Coupe has received is seasonal servicing as well as a new clutch.
This is extremely enjoyable 356 to drive with powerful engine and quick acceleration. The exhaust tone sounds great, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the four-wheel drum brakes stop the car quick and straight.
We are pleased to offer this rare 356 T6 Coupe set up to GT specifications that has been restored to such a high standard.
